J'ai l'élection courante! *

On commence à parler beaucoup d'un grand parti du centre, dit "social démocrate", qui serait censé regrouper l'UDF avec la frange droite de la gauche et la frange gauche de la droite. Si un tel projet fonctionne (ce qui m'étonnerait, vu le nombre de présidentiables potentiels qui se précipiteraient pour s'entredéchirer dans le parti en visant 2012), cela pourrait bien droitiser encore plus le paysage politique français, poussant les socialistes à l'extrême gauche. On finira avec une situation à l'américaine, avec deux partis résolument à droite, mais avec l'un moins que l'autre.

There are now many talks about a big centrist social-democrat party, which would group the UDF with the right of the left and the left of the right. If such project goes on (which I doubt, since the number of potential presidential candidates who would jump into it and start fighting, hoping for 2012), it could very well push the French politics on the right side, shifting the socialist party at the extreme left. We would end-up with a situation similar to the Americans, with two parties definitely right-wing, but one more than the other.
