Rhooo, je vous délaisse... Pourtant, il s'en passe, des choses, au royaume merveilleux de la haute finance! Obama a donc décidé de s'attaquer aux banques, en les découpant en morceaux et avec l'idée louable de les empêcher d'être trop grosses pour nécessiter une aide de l'était si quelque chose tourne mal. En particulier, il faudra se débarrasser de toutes les activités de trading propriétaires. Autant dire que ça a fait du bruit dans les trading floors.

Puisqu'on m'a maintenant mis au boulot juste en dessous de la télé, j'ai pu suivre tout cela de très près. Malheureusement, on ne peut pas dire que la chaîne d'infos financières en continu (non, pas celle là, l'autre) soit particulièrement passionnante, et si on me donnait la zapette, j'irais bien de temps en temps sur le Disney Channel (on me dit cependant que le Disney Channel a bien changé depuis 1987).

Bref, et pour revenir à nos moutons (qui apparemment peuvent être gardés par des lamas, lesquels sont très territoriaux et chassent les chiens errants, mais bon, je m'égare), l'on se demande un peu quels seront les détails. Qu'est-ce qu'une banque? Qu'est-ce qu'une activité de trading propriétaire? Seront-ce les banques américaines seulement qui seront affectées? Ou toutes les banques qui font du trading propriétaire aux uhesses? Ou toutes les banques opérant aux uhesses qui font du trading propriétaire quelque part?

Quel suspense.


I'm neglecting you all... Even though there is so much happening in the wonderful world of finance! Obama has decided to hit hard on the banks, by cutting them into pieces in order to make them small enough that they can be let down when they go wrong. In particular, the banks will need to get rid of all their proprietary trading activities. As you can imagine, this caused some noise on the trading floors.

I'm following all that quite closely, as I am now happily seated at work just under the TV. Sadly, the on-going financial news channel is not terribly exciting, and if I had the remote, I would put on the Disney Channel times to times (although I'm being told that it changed quite a lot since 1987).

Any way, back to the subject at hand, one can wonder what are going to be the details of such a scheme. What is a bank? What is a proprietary trading activity? Is it only the American banks that will be affected? The banks with a proprietary trading desk in America? The banks operating in America with a proprietary desk somewhere?

What a suspense.
